GloWing Design is a design consultation service founded and operated by Christian W. Heinemann. Christian has a master’s degree in urban & regional planning with an emphasis on environmental psychology and urban design, as well as a certification in residential landscape design.

I am neurodivergent, myself, so I understand first-hand just how significantly my immediate environment impacts my health and well-being.

While I was in graduate school for urban planning, I recognized how small a voice people like me had in the city-planning process. I worked to change that, and shifted focus from general city planning to researching how urban design could help neurodivergent individuals. 

As it turns out, your surroundings have a staggering impact on your health and well-being, no matter who you are; the environment on the large scale, like the planet’s ecosystems, of course, but also just the qualities of the room you’re in. I made it my mission to use this knowledge to do the most good I can. To that end, I started GloWing Design, so I could work to improve the built (and planted) environment on a human scale.
